Islamist militias ‘manage everything’ in Benghazi, says prelate

The apostolic vicar of Tripoli, Bishop Giovanni Martinelli, appealed for prayers for peace and for wisdom for political leaders as clashes between rival militias led to the closing of the Libyan capital’s airport.

In Benghazi, the nation’s 2nd-largest city, Islamist militias continue to “manage everything,” as they have since NATO’s 2011 military intervention helped lead to the fall of the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, according to the prelate.
