Pope sends prayers to people of Gaza

July 18, 2014

Pope Francis has promised his prayer to the people living in the Gaza Strip, as fears mount amid reports of an Israeli military offensive into the region.

"I am close to you, to the nuns and the entire Catholic community," the Pope said in a message to the little Catholic parish in Gaza, which has been coping with an influx of families fleeing from their homes after Israeli air strikes. "I accompany you with my prayers and my closeness."
