Madagascar: priest kidnapped, released in bandit raid

In Madagascar, a Catholic priest was kidnapped on July 8, but released the same day, the Fides news service reports.
The priest was one of four people taken hostage by bandits who attacked a remote village, looting homes and killing three people. Church sources in Madagascar said that such banditry is a common problem in rural areas.
