Accept God's love like a child, Pope urges faithful

June 27, 2014

Preaching at a Mass in the Domus Sanctae Marthae on the feast of the Sacred Heart, June 27, Pope Francis said that “love always generates life and makes us grow.”

The Pope told the congregation that in order to appreciate God’s love, one must become like a child, entrusting oneself to God as to a loving father. He reminded the faithful that Jesus described Himself as “meek and humble of heart. “Even He, the Son of God, lowers Himself to receive his Father’s love,” the Pope remarked.

In order to communicate his love to us, the Pope said, God “needs us to be like small children, to lower ourselves. And at the same time, He needs our astonishment when we look for Him and find Him there, waiting for us."
