EWTN will appeal decision rejecting challenge to HHS mandate

June 18, 2014

The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) has announced that it will appeal a judge’s decision rejecting the network’s challenge against the Obama administration’s contraceptive mandate.

“We have no other option but to continue our legal challenge of the mandate,” said Michael Warsaw, the chairman of EWTN. Saying that he was “extremely disappointed” with the decision by Judge Callie V.S. Granade, he observed that the ruling was at odds with other court findings.

“As an organization that was founded to uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church, we do not believe that contraception, abortion-inducing drugs and voluntary sterilization should be defined as health care,” Warsaw said. “We simply cannot facilitate these immoral practices.”
