Gates Foundation to stop funding abortion? Claim is disputed

June 13, 2014

Melinda Gates has announced that the Gates Foundation will no longer support abortion. But the president of Human Life International says that the announcement was an “outright deception.”

Melinda Gates said that he and her husband, Bill Gates, had determined that the controversy over abortion “is threatening to get in the way of the life-saving consensus regarding basic family planning.”

But Father Shenan Boquet of Human Life International said that the Gates Foundation “has in the past and will continue to give tens of millions of dollars to the largest abortion providers in the world, including International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International.”

Mrs. Gates fails the "Paul VI test"; she still endorses artificial sterility, the linchpin of modern immorality. If she and her foundation draw back even a little from their support for slaughter in the womb, that is of course good. But no one should mistake her maneuvering for a truly Catholic position. It is anything but.
