Orthodox bishop in Moldova fined for anti-homosexual statements

June 11, 2014

An Orthodox bishop in Moldova has been fined for saying that homosexuals should be barred from working in cafeterias and health-care facilities because “92% of them are AIDS-HIV patients.”

Bishop Markel of Balti/Falesti was ordered to pay $710 to the gay-rights organization that had filed a complaint against him because of his comments. He was also ordered to pay court costs.
