Ukraine at threshold of new era, says cardinal

May 23, 2014

Ukraine, although currently in a “post-Bolshevik period,” is “at the threshold of an entirely new era,” according to Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, who led the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church from 2001 to 2011.

After reflecting on the nation’s history, the prelate told the National Catholic Register that “we have not accomplished anything yet. But the idea of a new system, of something different, of a normal state, has become a reality-- a reality that can be achieved.”

I hope it can be achieved. Ukraine has lots of enemies, who want to put it back into captivity as Russia's slave. The Moscow Orthodox Church also wants Ukraine imprisoned because that gives them that much more clout in the Orthodox world and maybe helps control those pesky Uniates, who have no right to exist, in the ROC's opinion, since Ukraine is their "canonical territory." Pray that the disruptions in voting do not give grounds for "invalidating the outcome," which will be Putin's claim.
