Vatican cardinal laments violence in Syria, calls for inter-religious bid for peace

Religious leaders should promote the cause of peace in Syria, the president of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue told a conference in Amman, Jordan.

Cardinal Jean Louis Tauran decried the “seemingly limitless violence” in Syria as he opened his address to the conference, in which he emphasized that religious leaders have “an important role to play in bringing hearts and minds closer together.”
