Prelates urge participation in March for Marriage

April 09, 2014

Bishop Richard Malone, the chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, the chairman of the bishops' Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage, are urging their brother brothers to promote the March for Marriage, which will take place in Washington on June 19.

“This year’s March for Marriage will provide an ideal occasion for participants to celebrate and give public witness to the unique meaning of marriage as the union of one man and one woman at a time when the religious liberties and conscience rights of those who promote and defend marriage are increasingly threatened,” the bishops said in their April 7 letter.
