Obama’s meeting with Pope Francis will be 29th between Pope, US president

President Barack Obama’s March 27 meeting with Pope Francis will be the 29th meeting between a Pope and a US president, according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The first such meeting took place in 1919, when President Woodrow Wilson met with Pope Benedict XV at the Vatican; the most recent was President Obama’s meeting with Pope Benedict XVI in 2009.
