Cardinal George hospitalized; flu cited
March 18, 2014
Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George has been hospitalized with what archdiocesan officials describe as “flu-like symptoms.”
Earlier this month Cardinal George, who has had two bouts with cancer, revealed that a tumor in his kidney has shown “signs of new activity,” requiring another round of chemotherapy. The treatment may have contributed to his current illness. His condition is not regarded as serious, and he is expected to leave the hospital within a few days.
