USCCB president writes President Obama, lauds efforts to work for peace

Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has written President Barack Obama to commend his administration’s efforts to seek Israeli-Palestinian peace.
“We affirm your concerted initiative in the coming days and weeks to reach a framework agreement as a basis for resolving the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” said Archbishop Kurtz, who was joined by Bishop Richard Pates of Des Moines, the chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on International Justice and Peace.
“For decades our Conference has urged US leadership for peace,” the prelates said. “Our Conference continues to support a two-state solution to the conflict, a secure and recognized Israel living in peace with a viable and independent Palestinian state. We recognize the legitimate aspirations of the two peoples and three faiths who share this land that is holy to us. We affirm the religious freedom of Jews, Christians and Muslims, especially to access their Holy Sites in the Holy Land.”

Obama seems to want to leave some kind of impression in foreign policy before he leaves office - the current and past SecState are not well thought of by other countries (the first because gay rights are of first importance and the current due to incompetence). One has to wade through the lies and subterfuge of the Palestinians and understand that a nation has the right to ensure their security before anything will be resolved. It isn't going to happen with this president.

More than 4,000 babies are killed each day through abortion but thank heavens the archbishop can hail caesar for his Israeli-Palestinian policy! What good is knowledge without wisdom? God gives wisdom to the simple.
