Philippine bishops’ official rips government inefficiency

February 18, 2014

An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines strongly criticized President Benigno Aquino III’s government for its inefficiency, the Manila Bulletin reported.

“Can we sue the government for its inefficiency?” said Father Edu Gariguez, executive secretary of the National Secretariat for Social Action. “If that’s possible, then we should because they are really very inefficient.”

Bishop Crispin Varquez of Borongan also criticized the government’s response to the devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan: “disappointment is an understatement because it seems you don’t have hope anymore in this government.”
