Two Salesians were murdered and two were seriously injured during an apparent robbery of their residence in Venezuela’s third largest city.
Archbishop Reinaldo del Prette Lissot of Valencia expressed “deep sorrow and dismay for the murder of Father Jesus Plaza and of Brother Luis Sanchez, Salesians, as well as acts of aggression and sacrilege of which they were victims at the religious community of the Don Bosco school,” according to a Fides news agency report.
Father Plaza was 80, and Brother Sanchez was 84. Two boys, one 13 and the other 15, are suspects in the attack, which took place on the night of February 15.
