Pope Francis visits parish, hears confessions, celebrates Mass
February 17, 2014
Pope Francis visited a Roman parish on February 16 to mark the 50th anniversary of its founding.
Arriving at the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle at 4:00 in the afternoon, Pope Francis greeted the faithful and met with children, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled. He also heard several confessions.
During the 6:00 Mass, the Pope preached an extemporaneous homily on the motivations of the heart. According to a Vatican Radio report, he preached, “[Let us] always ask God for this grace, to know what is happening in [our] heart, in order always to make the right choice – the choice for the good – and may the Lord help us to love one another.”
