A priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit has been sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison on child pornography charges, the Detroit News reported.
Father Timothy Murray, 63, had been removed from ministry in 2004 after he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy in the 1980s. The child pornography charges date from 2012.
“Rather than focusing on the sentencing itself, my concern is for the far too many innocent children victimized by pornography and sexual abuse,” said archdiocesan spokesman Ned McGrath. “We owe them our prayers and lasting commitment for safe passage through their young lives.”
