Pope may visit Korea this year

January 22, 2014

Pope Francis is considering a trip to South Korea this year, the Vatican has disclosed.

Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, told reporters that a papal trip could be coordinated with the observance of Asian Youth Day, an event being organized by the Daejeon diocese. The Pope could also use the trip as the occasion to preside at the beatification of 123 Korean martyrs.
