Prelates to offer special Masses for success of next year's Synod meeting

The Vatican has announced several Masses that will be offered in a campaign of prayer for the success of the next meeting of the Synod of Bishops, which will be devoted to “the pastoral challenges of the family in the context of evangelization.”

  • On Sunday, December 22, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia will preside at a Mass in the Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona;
  • On December 29, Bishop Lorenzo Baldisseri, the secretary general of the Synod, will preside at a Mass celebrating the feast of the Holy Family, at the Annunciation basilica in Nazareth; and
  • Also on December 29, Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci will celebrate mass at the Sanctuary of the Holy House of Loreto, Italy.
