Another US appeals court victory for employer challenging HHS verdict
CWN - November 13, 2013
The 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals has given a victory to Grote Industries in a challenge to the HHS contraceptive mandate.
The court ruled that Grote Industries, owned by the Grote family, should be allowed to challenge the constitutionality of the mandate, which would require the firm to provide coverage for contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs in their employees' health-care insurance. Writing for a 2-1 majority, Judge Diane Sykes said that "compelling them to cover these services substantially burdens their religious exercise rights."
