Pope chooses Beatitudes for World Youth Day themes
Catholic World News - November 07, 2013
Pope Francis has drawn on the Beatitudes to furnish themes for the World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations of the next 3 years.
In 2014, the theme for the 39th WYD will be: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 5:3). The following year’s theme will be: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mt. 5:8).
In 2016, when the international celebration of WYD will be held in Krakow, the theme will be: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy” (Mt. 5:7).
