2 priests murdered in Colombia

Catholic World News - October 02, 2013

Father Bernardo Echeverry, 69, and Father Héctor Fabio Cabrera, 27, were murdered in their rectory in Roldanillo, a west-central Colombian city of 45,000, according to multiple media reports.

A local police chief said that the priests were murdered during an apparent robbery.

“We are dismayed because this crime is not only a violation of the right to life but also a serious sacrilege that affects the whole community of believers and Catholics,” Archbishop Darío de Jesús Monsalve Mejía of Cali told the Fides news agency.
