Assassination attempt against Coptic bishop in Egypt

October 01, 2013

A Coptic Orthodox bishop survived an assassination attempt as he was traveling to console the family of a murder victim, according to multiple media reports.

After the car of Bishop Anba Makarios of Minya came under fire, he and his companions took refuge in a local home.

The Assyrian International News Agency reported that local Muslims were angered because they thought the bishop was coming to reopen a church that had been closed for a decade.

“In other words, Muslims were angry because of the presence of a church in the village and the police do not want any trouble with them, and therefore Copts have to go without prayers just to appease the Muslims,” said a Coptic activist.

This administration hasn't learned that if you lie down with dogs....

The sad issue here is that the current American Administration is actually supporting the Muslim Brotherhood as a means to bring democracy to the Middle East. The Arab Spring is meant to unite Islam and to create a democratic form of Islam. Both in Egypt and Syria, the presidents and their administration (Mubarik and Assad), as evil as they were assumed to be, were very supportive of the rights of Christians and particularly of Coptic. Most of the evil done is by the so-called rebels.
