"We commend to the hands of our merciful and loving God, who alone can judge human hearts, the souls of all who died yesterday," said Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, DC, at a Mass for the victims of a shooting in the city’s Navy Yard.
The cardinal led prayers for domestic peace, and that God would “heal the wounds in our society,” in a Mass at St. Matthew’s cathedral on the day after the shootings.
