Bishop participates in ceremony for Slovenia’s 1st mosque

September 17, 2013

Bishop Andrej Glavan of Novo Mesto, the president of the Slovenian Bishops’ Conference, participated in the laying of the foundation stone for the nation’s first mosque on September 14, according to a statement from the conference.

Bishop Glavan called the mosque a “symbol of the opening of the Slovenian society, but also a symbol of commitment to future generations to live in dialogue, mutual respect and friendship.”

The bishop “also expressed the desire that Christians in the Muslim world could enjoy the same mode of religious liberty,” according to the conference.

The nation’s bishops have found in Slovenia’s leading Muslim cleric an ally in opposing the legalization of same-sex marriage, the conference statement noted.

The nation of 2.0 million is 79% Catholic and 2% Muslim.

It is the obligation of the Church to discern the true intentions of the Islamic world. The very basis of Islam from its architect, Muhammed, is that Christianity is an evil which must be overcome. Till Vatican II, Islam was seen as a cult just as Mormonism. America was discovered as a direct result of the Reconquista and the sending of Columbus to find new lands and wealth to bolster the new sense of Spanish mission which included evangelization. Shia and Sunni are different but just how much?

Yet another Catholic bishop who does not understand what is at stake...

This is a serious mistake, once again demonstrating the naivete that bedevils many Catholic prelates (Pope Francis included) around the globe. How many times do Muslims have to rape, torture, and kill Christians and bomb their churches, before these churchmen finally understand these actions are not fortuitous? Before they understand that many Muslims read the Koran and follow its mandates to enslave or kill all who refuse to convert?
