Cardinal Bertone sends Pope's greetings to Rimini conference

August 19, 2013

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, has conveyed the greetings of Pope Francis to the 34th annual Rimini meeting, organized by the Communion and Liberation movement.

In his message, made public by the Vatican on August 19, Cardinal Bertone said that the theme chosen for this year’s conference—“The Human Person: A State of Emergency” – “captures the great urgency of evangelization.”

“Man is the way for the Church because he is the road that God Himself walks on,” Cardinal Bertone wrote. Emphasizing that the strength of the Church is made manifest in efforts to spread the Gospel throughout the world, he said: “The condition of credibility of the Church in its mission of mother and teacher is its fidelity in Christ.”
