Pope sends message of support, thanks to K of C convention

Catholic World News - August 09, 2013

Pope Francis has sent a message of support and encouragement to the Knights of Columbus, who are holding their annual convention in San Antonio, Texas this week.

The Pope’s message expresses thanks for the prayers that have been offered by the Knights for his pontificate, and praises the organization for acting as “protections of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment.”

While the K of C does many good things, there is the continuing problem of its harboring many knights who publicly flout the Church's teachings concerning abortion, marriage, etc. How many US politicians proudly proclaim themselves knights at election time and then vote for protecting legalized abortion or destroying true marriage by unjust laws? The answer is, unfortunately, many. But the K of C has resolutely refused to do anything about this for decades.Perhaps Francis should address this too
