Caritas International welcomes Pope's visit to Lampedusa, focus on refugees

Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, the head of Caritas International, has welcomed the visit by Pope Francis to the Italian island of Lampedusa, and the attention the Pontiff brought to the plight of refugees.

Noting that there are more than 40 million refugees and displaced persons in the world today, the cardinal said: “We must welcome all refugees as our brothers and sisters.”
