English pro-lifers decry '3-parent' IVF technique
July 01, 2013
Pro-life leaders in England have denounced a plan to create children with 3 genetic parents, saying the new technique is macabre.
A new form of in vitro fertilization, designed to help couples whose children are prone to deadly mitochondrial diseases, is “both destructive and dangerous and therefore unethical,” said Anthony Ozimic of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children. He pointed out that the technique is based on the laboratory creation of human embryos, with the vast majority deliberately destroyed.
