Four candidates move forward toward beatification

May 03, 2013

The Vatican has cleared the way for the beatification of two people, and advanced two other candidates closer to beatification.

Two decrees issued by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, with the approval of Pope Francis, certified miracles attributed to the influence of Princess Maria Cristina of Savoy (1812-1836) and Maria Bolognesi (1924- 1980), an Italian laywoman. Both are now eligible for beatification.

Two other decrees attested to the heroic virtue of Joaquim Rosello Ferra (1833- 1909), a Spanish priest; and Maria Teresa of St. Joseph (1885-1946), born Janina Kierocinska, a Polish religious. Both will now be eligible for beatification is a miracle is attributed to their influence.
