Miami archdiocese urges immigrants to become citizens
April 30, 2013
Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami is urging undocumented immigrants in the Miami region to become US citizens.
The archbishop told a news conference that an estimated 300,000 people in the region are eligible to become citizens, but have not filed applications because of fears about the legal process. He said that the Miami archdiocese will provide free legal help to people wishing to become citizens-- although the individuals will still be required to pay government fees.
