April 09, 2013

Pope Francis has sent a message of condolence to British Prime Minister David Cameron on the death of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, the British government leader from 1979 to 1990.

The Pope's message promised prayers for the Thatcher family and the British people. In remembering the British leader known as the "Iron Lady," the Pope called attention to "the Christian values which underpinned her commitment to public service and to the promotion of freedom among the family of nations."
