Medal of Honor for Father Kapuan to be awarded April 11
March 11, 2013
Father Emil Kapaun, a US Army chaplain who died in a prison camp during the Korean War, will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on April 11.
The White House has formally confirmed the news that leaked in February: that Father Kapuan will receive the highest honor for bravery in the US military.
Father Kapuan is also a candidate for beatification. The Diocese of Wichita, Kansas, completed a local investigation into his case in 2011, and forwarded the dossier to the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
