Wisconsin teen charged with hate crime for church break-in

January 21, 2009

An 18-year-old has been charged with a hate crime in connection with a break-in at a Wisconsin parish this weekend. The teen, who had been turned in by his father, has been charged with “burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property with a hate crime enhancer,” according to the Wausau Daily Herald.

Update (Jan. 22): A subsequent Wausau Daily Herald story makes no reference to the "hate crime enhancer" and notes that the teen is accused of scratching a pentagram onto a wooden table in the church.
