Vatican newspaper chides Jewish critics of Pope

L'Osservatore Romano has published a rebuke to Italian Jewish leaders who have issued stinging criticisms of Pope Benedict XVI and particularly of his approval for the traditional Good Friday prayer for conversion of Jews. The Vatican newspaper said that the "excessive" criticism flies in the face of the Pope's obvious efforts to pursue friendly relations.
