US bishops invite Catholics to go to confession during Lent
CWN - January 21, 2013
The US bishops have released a brief pastoral exhortation reminding Catholics of their obligation to make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and urging more frequent Confession.
In “God’s Gift of Forgiveness,” approved by the bishops' conference last November, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reminds Catholics of the obligation to go to confession yearly, encourages frequent confession, and invites Catholics to confess their sins during Lent. Accompanying the pastoral exhortation is a description of how to go to Confession.

What a scandal it is for U.S. bishops to have to publish instructions on how to receive the sacraments, and for them to have to urge Catholics to make frequent use of the same. From the remnant and the impending persecution will emerge a leaner, more militant Church.
