Vatican: blessing of horses on St. Anthony’s feast day
CWN - January 16, 2013
A special Mass for farmers and their families will take place in St. Peter’s Basilica on January 17, the feast of St. Anthony (c. 251-356), the patriarch of monks and patron saint of animals.
Cardinal Angelo Comastri, the basilica’s archpriest, will celebrate the Mass, which will be followed by the blessing of a procession of horses in the Via della Conciliazione and a livestock exhibition around St. Peter’s Square.
