Demonstrator climbs scaffolding in St. Peter's Square

Catholic World News - January 02, 2013

A Romanian man climbed scaffolding in St. Peter’s Square on January 1 and displayed a banner asking Pope Benedict XVI to “Stop Terrorism.”

The demonstrator, who identified himself as Julian Jungarean, left his perch without incident. Pope Benedict, who had celebrated Mass for the World Day of Peace earlier inside the Vatican basilica, was not interrupted by the protest.
