Nigeria: 2 churches attacked during Christmas services; 12 dead

Two Protestant churches in Nigeria suffered terrorist attacks during Christmas services.
Gunmen attacked a Baptist church in the northeastern city of Maiduguri on Christmas Eve. Then, during a midnight service, gunmen attacked a congregation of the “Church of Christ in Nations” near the northeastern city of Potiskum.
The northern part of Nigeria is largely Muslim, while the southern part is largely Christian.
A dozen people, including two clergymen, were killed in the attacks. The Islamist terrorist organization Boko Haram, which attacked churches on Christmas 2010 and Christmas 2011, is suspected of carrying out the most recent incidents.
