African prelates more prominent in Vatican under Pope Benedict

Pope Benedict XVI has frequently praised the vigor of the Church in Africa, and indicated his special interest in the growth of the Church there. L'Espresso observes that Vatican appointments have testified to the Pope's interest. There are more African cardinals, more African-born prelates in Roman Curia, and more at the higher levels of the Vatican diplomatic corps.
