Prominent Episcopalian cleric enters Catholic Church

Catholic World News - December 03, 2012

The former rector of America’s largest Episcopalian church has become a Catholic.

Rev. Larry Gipson, who was once rector of St. Martin’s church in Houston—where his parishioners included former US President George H. W. Bush—has entered the Personal Ordinariate of St. Peter, set up to welcome Anglicans in the US who seek to enter the Catholic Church.

Rev. Gipson, who has been attending Mass regularly at the church of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, has been studying for ordination into the Catholic priesthood.

I became quite close to an Episcopalian clergyman who became a Catholic when he was the only one of five priests in my parish to bring Communion to my wife when she could no longer get to Mass. He was (apart from the priest who baptised me in 1953) the finest one I ever knew. These guys can be real assets to the people of God. God bless this one, as I know He will.

May God bless you and all your family. Someone said to me the other day being 70 was the new 40? So I think you are going to be as busy as you have always been. Your Priesthood will be an inspiration to others and to those you love.
