Milan archdiocese doubles its authorized exorcists
November 30, 2012
The Archdiocese of Milan has authorized 12 priests to act as exorcists, doubling the previous number.
Responding to a leap in the number of people inquiring about exorcism, the archdiocese has also set up a telephone hotline, through which callers can arrange an appointment to meet with an exorcist. The archdiocese is now receiving 3-4 calls a day from interested parties.
Msgr. Angelo Mascheroni, who has trained exorcists in Milan for years, notes that many inquiries come from people whose problems have a natural explanation. Only a small percentage of calls actually involve demonic possession, he said.
