European bishops issue pastoral statement on care for migrants
CWN - November 29, 2012
The Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE) has released a “road map” for the pastoral care of migrants, calling for new efforts “to assist in integration, to reinforce links, and to accompany and support both those who are left behind, such as children left by parents who emigrate in search of work, and those who leave.”
The CCEE statement was released at the conclusion of a 3-day conference in Rome, attended by 40 European bishops, in cooperation with the Pontifical Council for Migrants. The conference heard a series of calls for action to ease the difficulties of migrants in adapting to new societies.
