Nun beatified in Argentina
CWN - November 19, 2012
Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, traveled to Pergamino, Argentina, on November 17 to celebrate the beatification of Sister María Crescencia Pérez (1897-1932), a religious of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Garden. An estimated 50 bishops, 160 priests, and 30,000 laity were in attendance at the Mass, during which people fainted because of the heat.
During his homily, Cardinal Amato paid tribute to the nun’s “evangelical charity, with simplicity, humility, and gentleness.” While caring for the sick in Chile, Blessed María Crescencia Pérez contracted tuberculosis and died from the disease.
