Sistine Chapel concert features Roman, English choral traditions
CWN - November 15, 2012
The Sistine Chapel Choir and the Westminster Cathedral Choir performed at a concert at the Sistine Chapel on November 13. Numerous prelates attended the conference, which was sponsored by Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.
“We have been entranced by contrasting sonorities, which are the product of different cultural traditions, and yet these differences are transfigured by the shared faith that inspires them both,” said Msgr. Peter Wells, an official at the Secretariat of State. “Here we have a tangible illustration of one of the essential characteristics of the Church, namely that of unity amid diversity, where the best of what each culture offers is valued and brought into service for the glory of God.”
