Preparing to leave summer residence, Pope thanks staff
CWN - October 02, 2012
Pope Benedict XVI has said his goodbyes to the staff of the apostolic palace in Castel Gandolfo, as he prepares to end his annual stay at the papal summer residence.
“Everything in this world is transitory,” the Holy Father observed. “So it is for the serene and peaceful time I have spent with you in the beautiful setting of Castel Gandolfo.” He thanked the staff members for their efforts to ensure a restful and yet productive stay.
Just as school children look forward to the beginning of a new academic year in September, the Pope said, he is looking forward to important new events at the Vatican, most notably the October meeting of the Synod of Bishops, which will discuss the New Evangelization.
