World Youth Day volunteer coordinator speaks of preparations for Rio 2013
CWN - September 25, 2012
A "World Youth Day veteran" who has helped coordinate volunteer workers for previous gatherings spoke with Vatican Radio about the preparations for the next worldwide observance, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
"Without volunteers, World Youth Day just wouldn’t be possible," says Elsa Vazquez. An Australian who was involved in the last event, in Madrid, she foresees a more spectacular observance next year--"much bigger than Madrid, because Latin America is very Catholic."
Vazquez is helping to draw out different routes that young pilgrims can travel on their way to Rio, promoting a greater sense of pilgrimage.
