Prisoner euthanasia begins in Belgium

A terminally ill Belgian prisoner has been killed by euthanasia at his request, according to press reports.

It is the first instance of prisoner euthanasia in the nation since euthanasia was legalized in 2002. Last year, over 1,100 Belgians died by euthanasia.
