Israel's bishops promise renewed peace effort for Jewish New Year

In greetings to the people of Israel for the Jewish New Year, the Catholic bishops of the Holy Land have promised redoubled efforts to promote a lasting peace in the region.
The Catholic bishops, who have been holding their regular meeting this week, issued a statement encouraging the faithful "to work every day with greater courage and tenacity for justice and peace and for forgiveness and reconciliation."
