Pakistani girl insists she didn’t burn Qur’an

September 12, 2012

In her first public interview since her release on bail, a 14-year-old Pakistani Christian girl accused of blasphemy insisted she did not burn the Qur’an.

“I’m scared,” Rimsha Masih, who is in hiding, said in a brief phone interview with CNN. “I'm afraid of anyone who might kill us.”

During the phone interview, which raised questions about earlier media reports that characterized Rimsha as mentally handicapped, her father said that “we respect the Qur’an just like we respect the Bible.”

“We couldn't imagine committing blasphemy let alone doing it,” he added. “Our children would never do this either."

I think the take-home message is: Don't let mentally handicapped children have access to matches.
